What's Next on the Book Squad

This week, we're examing fiction for our greatest national treasures -- our children.

We welcome children's book authors Jabari Asim and Ed Baker to the show.

Asim is the author of Whose Toes Are Those? and Whose Knees are These? He's also deputy editor of the Washington Post Book World. He also writes a weekly syndicated column on popular culture. His writing has appeared in Essence, Salon, the Los Angeles Times, the Village Voice, the Hungry Mind Review, Emerge, and elsewhere.

Ed Baker is the author of The Story of Kitten Cuckoo. wrote and illustrated his first children’s book, A Bear in My Hair at the age of four, and by age five, Ed painted his first oil on canvas in the studio of renowned landscape artist Mark King. Ed participated in fine art exhibitions throughout his teens, and then went on to attend the University of Michigan, where he received a degree in Film and Video Studies.
